Lauren Shampan, Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LMSW

My approach blends practical tools with profound insights. On the practical side, I draw from evidence-based modalities, offering frameworks, strategies, and tools that can help illuminate core issues and make tangible progress. But I also believe therapy should create space for the transformative, "aha" moments—those times when you glimpse a deeper truth about yourself and your life.

I work to honor the full spectrum of your humanity: your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, desires, and even the contradictions within you. We’ll explore old patterns with fresh perspectives, gently challenging limiting beliefs while celebrating your resilience and growth. Together, we'll push boundaries—not for the sake of being edgy, but to expand your self-awareness and foster lasting change.

In addition to traditional talk therapy, I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based approach that helps reprocess traumatic memories and break through emotional barriers. EMDR is grounded in neuroscience, and it can be particularly effective in helping you resolve past trauma and overcome emotional patterns that may be holding you back. Whether you're struggling with a specific event or feeling stuck in ongoing negative patterns, EMDR offers a gentle yet powerful way to heal and create meaningful change.

Above all, I strive to build an authentic, collaborative relationship grounded in trust, openness, and occasional humor (because let’s face it, sometimes we need a little levity). While I am fully invested in your growth, you are the leader of your journey. My role is to provide guidance, perspective, and support as you unfold and evolve.

If you're looking for a therapist who can hold space for all of who you are—your struggles, your growth, and everything in between—I would be honored to connect with you.

I am based in Dumbo, Brooklyn, and offer both in-person and telehealth sessions to accommodate your needs.
